Episode 17 of VeggieGirl TV: Lots To Say About a "Pure Raw" Delight

It feels great to be back to my "regularly scheduled programming"!! Let us pick up where we left off with VeggieGirl TV, shall we??

In this week's episode, (**which is 7 minutes and 37 seconds in length**), I have a lot to say about a wonderful nationwide meal delivery service called Pure Raw Café.

I found out about this place from Kristen (my dear friend and raw guru), and I would like to share my official review of the service and food with you.

Check out the episode below, and then enjoy viewing the photos of some of the Pure Raw Café delights (since I just received my delivery this past Thursday/yesterday, haha).

**And now, feast your eyes on some pure, raw goodness...

This week's menu. The menu dramatically changes every week - so many tantalizing choices!!

Special delivery!! They ship overnight for guaranteed freshness; and the elaborate packaging prevents any spillage.

I only just received my shipment yesterday (Thursday); but so far I have tried...

The Sun Burger, complete with fresh sides and condiments - and each component is wrapped for freshness during transit...

I transferred the burger to a separate plate, haha.

The Chinese Dragon Stir-Fry, composed of crunchy cashews, mixed fresh vegetables, sesame seeds and a side of creamy almond sauce.

The Chocolate Passion Shake. This is a scrumptiously rich and creamy concoction of raw cacao, almond milk, agave, and vanilla. Heavenly. Period.

Like what you see?? Well this is nothing compared to what I have yet to enjoy for this week and more. Obviously there are more details in the above episode, so I do hope that you had time to tune in.

Please check out more information on their website!! You too deserve to enjoy pure raw delights!! :-)

**And please let me know what you would like to see in next week's episode!!**

I'd love to get into some raw foods. Having only recently gone vegetarian, I can't see myself in the near future going to great lengths to dehydrate stuff and doing all that's required to really make great raw food. But a delivery service seems like such a great idea!

Oh yum! Everything looks great. I wish I could sign up..maybe in the future when the economy doesn't suck!! Okay, sorry for being Debbie Downer! LOL!

I love when you post raw yummies, keep um coming!

mehorsecrazy123 said...

Those meals sound delicious! Are they sending you "prepared" raw foods? Because I am curious how raw foodists feel about eating local, organic produce--and having your food shipped seems to contradict that! What do you think VG? I've been reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and she brings this up a lot. Would love to know some people's opinions!

I'd love to see some daily eats :)

Andrea@WellnessNotes said...

The food looks and sounds amazing. I think I might treat myself to a Pure Raw Cafe week later this summer... :)

wow thanks so much for the info. I once ordered a week of raw food from a place called Raw Life Line, it was so so, as it sounds like your rawvolution experience was. I threw most of it out.

I definitely want to try Pure Raw Cafe...it will have to be a treat, but it looks so yummy.

Oh my gosh, when are we ever going to meet? I thought about this as I was running today, and I got a little sad because I realized it's going to have to be three more months until I'm back in Ohio and we can join forces.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend and your delicious raw eats!

Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) said...

Oh my...I want that dragon stir-fry. The only problem with the raw food delivery is that I would to eat all the meals day 1. Honestly, I lack way too much self control to let those sit in the fridge.

2-4 servings? No way. 1 tops.

Have a good weekend VG! :)

The site reference to Pure raw delights/Pure To Go is perfect. Espec. for people who live in a location where natural foods stores are limited to say the least. Great!

i love watching these happy videos of you! you need to keep doing what you're doing because you just seem so much lighter over the past month (i guess vacation helps, haha), and you're even MORE of a delight to watch than normal!

your raw meals look soooooo delicious. do you ever try to recreate any of these raw meals yourself, or do you think they're better from a place like the raw cafe?

Wow. I just checked out their website. Everything looks amazingly fresh and beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Meghan (Making Love In The Kitchen) said...

Love this idea... but can't help but question the sustainability factor. It's one thing to want to go raw for our own health- but shipping food across the country? Eeeks- what about planetary health? I don't know. As you mention- raw intake goes up for most people in the summer months- I intend for my raw intake to be based on the goodness I can get from my LOCAL market. Maybe that's just me...

spidersfrommars said...

That milkshake made my mouth water. Wowowowow! This place looks really amazing.

Adam said...

Wow, I'm very impressed with the food. I'm still new to the different types of diets out there, including high raw, but it's nice to know it can be super delicious.

Love that sweet customer service too. Being a real person is nice :)

What do I want to see? How about a simple raw recipe? It could be nice with summer rocking on in!

Alison said...

Great video as always.

Two requests...

Can you discuss how you handled restaurants in Vegas? You may have posted more about restaurants in previous posts that I've missed. But I'm interested in seeing how you educate restaurant staff about your allergies and hear stories about any notable good and bad experiences you've had.

Also, what were the bracelets you were wearing? I didn't get a close-up view.

eatingbender said...

Wow, VeggieGirl! I knew from the descriptions you provided over the phone that these meals would be elegant and decadent...but seeing them come to life on the screen just makes me want 'em even more! My dad and I used to get a Wendy's Frosty after my basketball games once a week when I was little - good times! This sounds like a much better option ;o)

I'm glad you're having such good luck with this service and look forward to hearing and seeing more! I'd love to see more of your baking adventures as well. I'm sure no matter what you decide to post, it will be informative and scrumptious!

Have a great night!

Wonderful review, VeggieGirl! I've been experimenting with raw foods lately and I love the fresh lightness of it. It certainly does match the summer season perfectly.

I'm off to check out the Pure Raw Cafe website. Fun!

Do you keep baking goodies in the summer months or do you find yourself easing off a little?

I love services like this! I recently found a gluten free delivery service that I wanted to try out -- but I love the variety here, everything looks so flavorful. My husband and I were saying last night that even though we're not vegetarians/on a raw diet, we've noticed that vegetarian meals tend to be more full of flavor because the cooks/chefs really use the veggies/spices to their advantage, rather than relying on meat for the main course.

Nathalie Lussier said...

I just found your site. I love it!

Thanks so much for sharing pictures and descriptions of all the food. I'm in Canada, but I know that the more such delivery services there are in the USA the more chances of getting them in Canada we have. ;)

I loved your video and learning about your high raw lifestyle. :)

Goodness Liz, I am so far behind!!! Your raw eats from Pure Raw look so, so good! How very cool that they deliver. I wish they attached recipes with their meals, the Sun Burger looks AWESOME, and something I wish I knew how to make!!!

I know I am kind of late to chime in on what would be fun to see for your next episode, but I would love to hear you do a review on your all time favorite kitchen tools that you use personally for your lifestyle. I remember reading a post from you a while back about the Blend-Tek, but wonder what else are your must haves for your kitchen.

Hope you are doing well!!

How awesome that you can order raw food -especially for those of us who live in well, less then healthy food areas of the country. I will try it for sure. I was so jealous when I was in Whole Foods in Austin and they had a raw food bar where they serve freshly prepared raw food daily.
