My parents and I have officially "recuperated" from our quick trip to New York City, which was nothing less than spectacular.
Aside from the horrid weather conditions (it rained everyday and was quite humid as well), we got to spend time with great friends, savor exceptional meals, and experience all over again what we experience every year in the city - the magic and true allure of "The Big Apple."
So how exactly did the trip begin?? Well that is what you are about to read about (and see!!) in Part One of the VG NYC post series.
**Tuesday, June 23rd: Early morning and afternoon**
Since we wanted to have all day on Tuesday to spend in the city, we made sure to leave the house (and to fly out) early in the morning. So...
Here I am with my "on-the-go" breakfast: Green Smoothie (made with unsweetened hempmilk, frozen cherries & strawberries, vanilla Sun Warrior protein powder, and fresh spinach).
As soon as we arrived at the airport, we boarded the plane and took off within minutes. No delays = the best way to fly.
VeggieDad and VeggieMom (see me in the mirror, taking the photo??), all situated on the plane...
Even though the flight was less than an hour, we still managed to enjoy the aerial views from the plane:
Welcome to New York City!! You can see the famous Empire State Building in the center of the above photo.
Even though our flight was less than an hour, the ride from the airport to our hotel was over an hour (talk about irony!!). But once we made it, our excitement quickly overrode the frustrations with the bumper-to-bumper traffic.
It seems that my parents and I enjoyed a lot of green-based foods that morning and afternoon:
There were lots of salads (no photos, sorry!!), Split Pea Soup (my mom's favorite)...
And some Thai Green Juice (made with greens, cilantro, lime, and pineapple - although I swear there was no lime or pineapple in it). Wow this tasted very green. Whew!! Intense.
After refueling and checking into our hotel, we had some time to relax a bit before heading out for the afternoon and evening.
So what did I do during this time??
I recruited VeggieDad and my dear friend Caroline (who greeted us at our hotel when we arrived) to film Episode 20 of VeggieGirl TV!!
Please enjoy the first of the two episodes that were filmed while in NYC (**this episode is 3 minutes and 9 seconds in length**):
By the way, June 23rd marked my 2nd-year blogiversary!! This made the beginning of my NYC trip that much more celebratory and enjoyable :-)
**Stay tuned for Part Two of the VG NYC post series!!**

OOOH you know I'll be following this series with particular interest. :) Thanks for making the trip out here! Twas lovely to have you inDEED!
Happy blogiversary! This is so ironic, because my family and I are randomly moving back to New York next month after 3 years. We just made the final decision before I read your post!
That soup sure is green! It's electric! And cilantro is your juice - you are braver than I, that's for sure.
Looking forward to more fun from NYC. I definitely need to get out there one of these days.
Happy blog birthday!
One Lucky Duck...they make baked goods too, right?
Happy belated blog birthday!
You made me want to go to NYC and stay in that hotel!!!! But poor grad student, I think I can do the first part and have to wait until then.
Is going to be a big blogger meet up on Friday?? really? Can I go too???
Welcome to NYC!
Just a quick note - the photo of the skyline where you pointed out the Chrysler Building - the tall building in the center is actually the Empire State Building. The Chrysler Building is to the left that that, clustered in with all of those other tall buildings. You can't really make it out for all the other skyscrapers in front of it.
Happy Blogiversary! I hope you had fun in NY. I can't wait to read about your meet ups and other NY adventures.
happy 2-year anniversary!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE NYC! looks like you had such a good time - yeah for fun times in the big apple.
can't wait to see more - have a lovely day dear!
Happy Anniversary! I can't wait to read the rest :)
Looks like a blast! And happy blogiversary :)
Too much fun..i am loving the private jet! Lucky!
2 years?!?! My blog is such a baby.
When you showed us the hotel bed, you should have said,"This is where the magic happens." You'd be so MTV Cribs. ;)
Happy Blogiversary!
Awesome pics and video. Thanks for taking us on another trip... :) I can't wait for Part 2!
I love your trip recaps, VeggieGirl. You make NYC even more fabulous than it already is ;o) I'm glad you and your family were able to take another trip on the jet!
I love your green-based foods (although too bad the Thai Green Juice was not-so-hot), and your video tour complete with Ms. Caroline was fabulous. I'm looking forward to further recap posts. Any chance at all of a Chi-town trip this summer, lady?
And again, I apologize for my tardiness, but HAPPY 2ND YEAR BLOGIVERSARY! The original blogger, for sure ;o)
...just wanted ta say that it was great to meet you at the NYC Blogger dinner on Friday night...glad to hear you had a wonderful trip to NYC..keep up the great posting and have a good night.
Enjoy your summer, Veggie Girl!!!!
All the Best,
Amie
The Healthy Apple
Hey VG! Love the blog. Just curious...how do you get to fly in a private jet? Does your dad own it?
Glad you had fun! I haven't been to NYC in years! Thanks for sharing your trip with us! Congrats on 2 years of blogging!
great aerial view. I love the clouds in the blue sky.
I've never had Thai green juice...that doesn't sound too appetizing though...
The video is cute! I like the knocking on the door feature. haha. I think I can live without a T.V. in the restroom as well haha.
Looks like you had a fun time. Alright...next trip is San Francisco!
Ah NY...I was raised there and I have the NY accent also...that is very hard to remove. I hope you got to have some good bagels at a Jewish bakery. There's a nice one a few blocks down from 42nd Street. Nice Photos.
I love the city! I've lived 30 minutes outside of almost my whole life. I live in Albany,NY now and I miss how close I was to the city before I moved! I want to live there!
p.s. I mentioned you in my last post. I FINALLY got around to trying Hempmilk :)
-Katharina
Oh VG! Am so bummed that I couldn't see you guys this time- the knee is better, but still not great. Sounds like you guys had a great time as usual. Come back soon! Happy Happy Blogiversary!!
xo
VKO
Fun trip. I LOVE NYC!
Hey, I have a question, is there an easy way to "search" for one of your recipes on your blog? I can't figure it out if there is. (I'm not the brightest at computer stuff.) I have some friends that are gluten free and I'd like to make them some brownies (for the 4th), like the one in your photo at the top of your blog. How can I find that recipe? I'm not seeing a search engine on your blog.
Thanks!
So much green goodness! :)
(And thank you for your vote!!)
You guys are doing quite the traveling lately! And the TRUMP hotel? Simply Awesome :)
I'm happy you're having such a great time, I wish I had summers off again :)
Those chocolates are so cute!! Trump is AMPED that the famous veggiegirl is reppin' their hotel!!! :-D
That place looks awesome, and i'm sure you've been having sooo much fun. Hit up central park and some fancy, NY restaurant for me!
Happy Blogiversary! I can't wait to hear about the meetup.
Happy Blogiversary! Looking forward to more.
Yay! Happy Blog Anniversary! And yay for great company in an awesome place! I can't wait for episode 2!
Hi Thanks for the comment and happy blogiversary.
Glad you guys had a good trip! I haven't experienced nearly enough of NYC's veg treasures...I need to get on that! Also, happy blog anniversary!!!
Enjoying your blog and healthy, sweet baked goods for some time now! I really like when you post recipes and recommend certain products. (I always enjoy baking healthfully.) BTW, happy two year blogging anniversary and have been wondering if that is your own plane??? How lucky you are to fly that way! Way to go!
Love watching the video! Can't wait to see more!
Such green food! I love the color! lol.
Looking forward to more of your NYC trip!
what amazing views from the flight! and hooray for living it up in the big apple. i was so sad to have missed you, but i guess vacationing in hawaii isnt really something to complain about...still, you were on my mind (i swear im not a freak) while i was in hawaii wishing i could meet you. hopefully on another trip in the future? cant wait to hear more about your trip. i love the pics, already!!
oh, and btw, i got my first negative comment today on my blog, and i think ill leave it up...i feel like its a sign that ive "made it" in the blog world, haha...just kidding. it (of course) hurt my feelings, im only human after all! i still hve feelings! but it just made me think because i know you get such crap sometimes from random people who dont know you, and i was so shocked from just ONE comment! ouch. why do people feel the need to be so harsh when they dont even KNOW me/you/others...ok, anyways, cant wait to hear/see more about your fun in the big apple!!
Looks like New York was really fun. :) Happy blogiversary!
how cool to have a friend meeting you upon arrival. glad the trip got off to a great start
happy (Belated) blogiversary!! what great pictures you got from the plane! i miss living near NYC
After all of Kristen's commentary and now yours, One Lucky Duck is on my "To Do" list:) Great views from the plane!
Love the comfy hotel room, glad you had a great trip. And happy 2nd blogiversary!
I LOVE your necklace! :)
It is great that you planned some meetups during your trip! It's so cool to see people in person that you meet on the blogs. I love reading your accounts of your trips and meals.
