Whenever I Am Feeling... It Will All Be Okay Again

Whenever I am feeling stressed out,

Whenever I am feeling weak,

Whenever I am feeling a little gloomy,

Whenever I am feeling a sense of hopelessness,

(All of which I have been feeling this past week...)

I just fight back the tears and frustration, take a deep breath, and look down.

Look down? Shouldn't I be looking up instead, you may be wondering?

To this I answer no - I look down instead. Because when I look down...

and see my little "snaggletoothed shelter pet" peering back up at me...

I instantly begin to smile and know that it will all be okay again.

**Whenever you are feeling a little down, how do you know that all will be okay again?

Big hugs to you! Your words about looking down resonate completely with me--my little puppy is guaranteed to make me smile and remember the good things. And the pics of your little guy do the exact same thing--what a cutie!! :)

Aw Liz! I'm sorry you are feeling down.

Whenever I feel down, I look at pictures of my family and friends and realize just how lucky I am. :)

You have such a cute puppy!

Sorry to hear you haven't been in the highest of spirits. We all feel that way sometimes. It's nice to have a little pupster to cheer you up. They're good at that. :)

Wow this just hit my reader 3 minutes ago and I am sorry that things are so chaotic and stressful for you honey.

What do I do when things are feeling overwhelming? Remember that this too shall pass. In 6 days it probably won't matter, it will even matter less in 6 months, and in 6 years you won't even (likely) remember it. So it puts it into perspective.

When I was your age, I also would get together with friends, go out for a few drinks, whoop it up a bit, and that helped! As a boring mom and wife (kidding!) I do things like yoga, reading fun things, creating new recipes/food in the kitch, anything to take my mind off my stress.

Thanks for your comment today about Juicy and BebeSport. I love reading everyone's fave stuff, although with you, it's easy b/c you're frequently photo'ed in those outfits!

Hang in there!
Love, peace, and strength to you!
xoxo

p.s. I love the winter theme layout. It's a "cool" version sorta of my layout which is more brown but similar. The colors of your layout are the colors of my master bedroom. Final result post of that coming tonite! So needless to say, right up my alley your layout :)

Love you girlie :)
Honestly, when I'm feeling down, I turn to my friends and family who, 90% of the time, know exactly what to say. I wish I could reach through the computer and give you a big ol' hug!

How cute is Chooey?! When I am having a day where I just feel completely lost I pray and remind myself of God's faithfulness and love.
I hope Chooey makes your day better, love!

Ashley Lauren said...

Sending good vibes your way!!!

A blogger posed the question earlier- "what makes you feel glamorous?"

And honestly, my shoes, bags, makeup and clothes didn't even cross my mind. All I could think of was the way my old, tired Jack wiggles and waggles when I come home after work, like I'm the coolest celebrity ever.

Pam said...

Very nice VG....such a sweetie!

Enjoy!

girl can I just say I have had the week from hell. I finally, after 3 days of hell made it to the gym, saw all my peeps, worked out and felt so much better. and right now I'm taking time off to chill, write to my food blog peeps, then off to watch Survivor (which makes me crazy happy). we are in the process of buying a home and the drama of families, monies, closing dates, septic/home inspection, etc...oh the list could go on--it's an awful mess.
so, I am right there with you trying my best to get thru all this crazy mess. if times get to much send me Chewie. LOL I tease. hang in there chicklet.

When I read "I just look down.." I immediately thought of Chooey and smiled. I'm so glad your little puppers can make you happy after having such a rough time.

I'm sorry that you are feeling down. I remember having to fight the stress of school work. Chewie is so cute, and he would make me feel a lot better.
Whenever I feel down, I go out for a nice long walk. Getting fresh air, even though it's cold, is a good start to clearing your head of those stresses and reprioritizing what you have ahead of you.

cutest dog, ever. seriously.

i always feel depressed right before the holidays - i don't know why, maybe the shorter days? things that help: taking walks, cooking an involved meal, doing some yoga, watching a sappy movie, letting it out and crying, reading a book to escape.

hope things improve soon, liz. hugs!

I'm sorry you've been feeling down. I challenge myself to think of 5 good things that happened that day, no matter how little! It could be seeing a cute baby, a beautiful flower, chatting with a friend. By the time I've thought of 5, I feel a bit better about the world :)

Wow this is so timely for me. I always have to remind myself that what I'm stressing about (school, usually) isn't REALLY the most important thing - I have my health, I have my family, and I have my friends, and I'd much rather have all of those be constant and school be the thing I have to struggle with.

For me, I know it will be okay when I ride my horse. There's something so beautiful and calming about it.
Of course, there's running to ;)

Aww Liz.. I really hope you're feeling better. I usually eat anything in sight when I'm stressed. If it's really bad, I completely lose my appetite. That's how I kind of been feeling lately.

Those pics of Chooey are super cute!!

I don't know if I do anything to destress other than bake or try to do something creative..HA! I went through a phase of making fondant roses for a while. Now I have so many, I don't know what to do w/ them...

have a good weekend liz and get some rest

Aww, makes me want to get a dog now! Chooey is the cutest! When I'm down, I just usually take a deep breath. How could anyone feel sad when they look at that face? Seriously though, I'm so sorry you're going through a tough time right now. From reading your blog I get the impression that you're someone who likes to put on a front of 'strength' and bury her emotions a little, which is why I think it's a good thing that you've opened up a little about it. We're all here for you and even though all I have to offer is a virtual *hug* I hope that your situation improves as soon as it possibly can. You work so incredibly hard at everything you do...just remember what a wonderful and special person you are, okay? There are at least 70 other people here who agree with me ;)

Sorry to be so unoriginal but my cat Minnie cheers me up in exactly the same way.

I've been having one of those weeks too... where everything is stressful and crazy until you get everything out of the way.. and after that it's hard to relax for a bit. It's literally hard to breathe during those times. I just remind myself that there is a light under the tunnel. And that there are some people who have crazy circumstances going on and they still get stuff done. And I also think it's okay to vent and release that stress. Talk about how "AHHHH this is just too much!!" :D Take care my angel!

Aw, VeggieGirl, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down. We should definitely chat soon because I'm in the same boat. Misery loves company, right? :o) Seriously though -- that little face and that smile from Chooey really turned my day around!

When I'm feeling a little down, I try to remind myself that in a year from now, I probably won't even remember what happen or who said what, etc. If you try to remember how you felt on November 13, 2008, I think it'd be pretty tough, right (unless it was a holiday or a special occasion). Just remember that the occasional bad days should never outshine the millions of good days you have had and will continue to have many years to come!

Hope everything is ok deary! Chooey looks like the most cheerful, happy-go-lucky doggy :)

Whenever i'm down in the dumps I like to get in my pjs, turn on sad songs, and lay in bed. which is probably not very cheerful lol.. but it is kind of relaxing!

My mom is a great support system too whenever I'm feeling majorly blah. Those days are the worst!

Oh VG I am so happy your have that sweet little face to cheer you up! When I am down... I kind of just stay down until it passes and cook/bake. Always a fabulous distraction. Anyway, I am sending positive vibes your way:)

ps: thanks for being such a supportive blogger :)

This post is nice. I have been feeling low for a while now and it can get pretty intense at times. Take it one step at a time.

I hope that knowing how many people think you rock cheers you up!Pets help so much too. And I volunteer at an animal shelter. Sometimes on bad days all I want to do is go there and walk dogs.

adorable dog :)

stepping back from the stress and taking a walk or spending some time outside helps me to put things in perspective. stress over school and the future always seems less significant afterward.

hope you find your peace!

Awwww, darling, I am so sorry you had a challenging week! I know you powered through it with all your strength, though. And that cute little furry face :) I hope this week is much better!

I normally turn to friends, family and Lil Wayne. His music is nothing like my life, so I find it a complete escape/hilarious. That and Sex and the City.

I send huge hugs and love! xoxo

Definitely coming home to my cat. She waits in the window that overlooks the walkway to the building, and then runs to the door purring to greet me. Seriously don't think I'd be nearly as happy to come home without her :)

Your dog is adorable! I was fostering a dog for a while, but now she's been adopted! Bittersweet.

Whenever I'm feeling down, I know that it will be okay because nothing in the past has ever told me that it won't. I'm lucky to be healthy and happy even if I have some downer days.

Jess of Veg Out! said...

Stop it! That dog is too adorable! (Also, my lil' adopted Mabel used to be a snaggletooth - and we called her as such - until she lost all her teeth! Now she's the Toothless Wonder.) ;-)

Great post! I always turn to my boyfriend & parents when I'm having a hard time. Mabel cheers me up, too, of course. Just looking at her makes me smile!

Aw, that is just too cute. Chooey would definitely make anyone feel better. I know I am late on my comment, but I hope you are feeling much better now!

All I have to do to feel better is take a break, sit on the couch, and relax. Within minutes (no matter where she is), my fuzzy little cat will appear on my lap to cuddle :)

Looking down at my sweet dog definitely helps me too. I hope whatever it is that things are getting better.

Just believe it. Take care!

Adorable puppy!!! Animals bring such joy to life.

Whenever I'm feeling a little down.... I remember this saying, "This too shall pass"... and it always does. Life is a cycle of ups and downs. Sometime we have more ups than downs, and vice versa. But I believe the biggest blessing we can bestow upon ourselves is our attitude toward the life lessons that show up at our doorstep.

Hang in there, it will get better, plus you are supported by loving friends and family. :-)

I'm with you! Pets are the key! Scone always makes me so happy :)

Chanel11 said...

What a cutie! I do the same thing, whenever I look down at my little hairy boy, tongue hanging out, I will always smile no matter how bad I feel - pets will give you a better and longer life.

Sara said...

I feel the same way this week. Work is overwhelming and I am feeling stressed in a way I've never been before. BUT WE CAN DO IT. We WILL make it through. (At least, that thought is what keeps me sane.) Your dog is adorable. :)

Sweet and Savory said...

That dog is golden.

We all need something to connect with when we are down. It may be intangible or tangible but it is a sign of hope and love.

Keep in mind that these times are times of growth. What you can't realize now, you may see later and be better for it. From what I know of you, you will be better for this down time.

So cute :)

That time of year with exams. Gah. When I feel that way, I cook or clean. Or go to my room and shut myself away from the world and listen to music to rejuvenate. It's calming.

Angharad said...

Keep your chin up lovely!

Gina said...

I'm sorry you are feeling down, that's no fun. I've been feeling really down lately too, for no particular reason. I guess it's the combination of stress, lack of sun, and PMS (yikes). I just remind myself that I feel down on occassion, it's normal. I always eventually get lifted back UP, I just have to be patient and wait for that to happen. I also cook a lot when I'm down :)

Lori said...

That's awesome! I tend to look down too. :)

I adore those pictures. I love pets - they are the best and are always there for you. thanks for the reminder

Awww that face would cheer anyone up! I snuggle with my Toby (my orange kitty), he always knows when I'm feeling bad and makes me feel better.

Oh, she's so adorable! Her face made me smile on this gloomy day with gloomy temperament, too. Thank you for this reminder that everything will be okay. =)

Can I HAVE HER?!?!?!?! My apartment doesnt allow pets but I want her! :D

I hope you are feeling better. Whenever I am feeling down I have a nite out with my roommate, enjoying good food and exploring new towns or going into the kitchen and making a new recipe. By just going out there and relaxing or being excited about starting something new makes my worries go away for a little bit.
